Connecting a website creates the workspace for that domain: knowledge scans, the agent, the chat widget, conversations and leads. Use the public URL visitors type in the browser — not an internal or temporary host — unless you are intentionally setting up staging.
Connect your site
- Sign in and open Websites, or continue from onboarding if you just created an account
- Choose Add website and enter a clear site name plus the full public URL (including https://)
- Confirm the domain matches the live site where the widget will load
- Complete any ownership or install checks shown in the workspace
- Open the new website overview — this is your home for scan, knowledge, agent and installation
After the site is connected
- Run a content scan so pages can become approved knowledge
- Publish the knowledge you want the agent to answer from
- Copy the install snippet from Installation and add it to your site
- Hard-refresh the live page and use Recheck installation in Amevia
- Preview the agent with real questions before you treat it as live
Domain tips
- Prefer the canonical production domain (www or non-www — match what visitors actually use)
- Paths like /shop are fine if that is the public site; avoid admin-only or login-walled URLs
- One Amevia website connection maps to one public domain for scanning and widget checks
If something blocks you
- Cannot add the domain — check spelling, https, and that the account can create websites on your plan
- Ownership or install still pending — follow the workspace checklist, then open Add and verify a website
- Scan or widget next — use Scan website content and Install with JavaScript
